Editorial standards

These are the rules the desk works to. They are published so that a reader can hold the publication to them.

Sourcing

Every figure names the organisation that produced it and the date it was produced.
Regulatory scope questions are answered from the state commission's own page and the statute or rule it cites, never from a secondary summary.
Where a document is dated, the date is published, including when it is inconveniently old.

Vendor data

Statistics published by a company that sells a related product are labelled as vendor data in the story.
Fraud statistics run alongside FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center figures, which have no product attached.
A vendor screening rate is never reported as a market-wide rate. What the sample was is stated.

Verification and uncertainty

Sources confirmed at the source are marked confirmed in the source directory. Everything else is marked unconfirmed.
Where the desk could not verify a claim within a reasonable effort, the story says so in place of smoothing it over.
We do not publish a figure we cannot trace to a document.

Corrections

Corrections are published on the story itself, with the date they were made.
Substantive corrections carry an updated timestamp visible in the byline block and in the structured data.
A correction is never made silently.

Advertising and disclosure

Every commercial unit is labelled, either as an advertisement or as a sister property.
Advertisers have no advance sight of coverage and no influence over it.
Coverage of Freehold or FindTCPros carries a disclosure in the story, because both are sister properties in the Freehold Studio ecosystem.
That disclosure appears above the story, not in a footnote, and travels with the article into the plain-text and feed versions so it cannot be stripped by republication.
Where a story describes a sister property's own technical claims, it says that the claims are the vendor's and that TC Bulletin has not audited them.
Sister-property coverage is held to a minority of any section, and the desk measures the share rather than trusting itself to remember it.
No affiliate links appear inside editorial copy.

Scope of what we do

TC Bulletin reports what regulators, associations and companies publish. It does not give legal advice.
Where a question turns on a licence, the story points to the regulator and says so plainly.
